    Too Soon?
We are fairly new to this site & have only had Kaa (our normal) for almost 4mths. He went from not eating & always "balling up" when held to eating regularly (weekly) and loving to explore when handled. We are seriously considering getting a friend for him, a morph, since we have been doing pretty good keeping Kaa.

What I'm asking is, is it too soon to add a second?

Sorry, I'm just waiting for the arguments to start. To be helpful (I'm sorry for my first post not being helpful in the least) I can give you my personal opinion.

Snakes do not need friends. If you are planning on housing them together, you're going to have a lot of people on here arguing about what a terrible idea that is. Personally, again, I have been keeping snakes for...almost 4 years now? I would never house them together. The cons outweigh the pros and I don't consider myself nearly experience enough, nor have the unlimited time to make it work. Being a new snake owner, I would not advise getting your snake any friends.

However, the good news is, you can get another snake! I would get a separate enclosure for it. Can it be done? Yes, but it'll take you more than 4 months to figure out how to do so safely.

TOTALLY appreciate your input! Yes, they will be in separate homes.... we have an extra enclosure. I probably should have included more details. When I say I'd love a "friend for Kaa" I really mean WE want another.

I had originally decided not to get a second snake unless we were able to keep ONE healthy and happy.... Kaa has adjusted well and has even gone through his first shed with us successfully which is why I'm considering getting another. Hence the purpose of this post, if we should wait, we will.

Ha! Well, in that case...go for it! If you feel confident enough why not? What morph are you thinking about?

I'm looking at a Lesser or Butter.... Still new to this but one prospect is labeled a Lesser Platinum and the other a Butter Ghost. I've been looking through this forum and I'm totally in love with Lessers and Butters!

I love my lesser! Butter and lesser is (arguably) the same thing, just a different line. Ghost however is completely different. You can't go wrong with a nice lesser or butter :gj:
