Thermostat Question:

hi guys,

I've been thinking about getting a brand new thermostat for an incubator i am planning to put up in preparation for next year. I was looking at several brands and models. I've heard a lot of positive thing with the ELITECH THERMOSTAT STC-1000 model.

anyone using this model?
any opinions??

I've read a lot of thermostat discussion threads and I've never seen that one before. If it's going on your incubator I'd get a trusted brand and sleep safe. You'd hate to wake up one day to discover it fried your eggs.

Based on the specs and amazon reviews I would not use it for an incubator. For an incubator you want a proportional t-stat, not an on/off model with a temperature swing of +/- 1*C.

I also didn't see whether it runs wide open or turns off if the unit has a problem. If it fails wide open then it will destroy your eggs in short order, if they get too cool you have a chance to bring them back.

ETA: if it fails "safe" - meaning, it turns off, it would probably be a good budget t-stat for someone looking to run a UTH.

Good point.. a lot seems to use this model for chicken incubators. its just so hard to come by a good and branded thermostat here in the Philippines.
