First Shed

My new RTb just shed today. I went into the room to check on her and she was in her water bowl swiming aroung and looking up at me. I got her out and cleaned her tank up and handled her for a while. I have had her for 3 weeks or so and this was her fist. Thought I would should some pics.

how long is she? she looks kinda skinny....

She looks great to me! She's got alot of red in that tail :D

She is very young maybe two months, I have been feeding her really well. Also if you look in the first pic you can see the huge **** she took right after she shed. She came from a really great breeder, whom my girlfriend's dad knows. He has been breeding for years, I think that he has something like 500 snakes. I had made the comment that the young RTB look "skinny" but she is deffently very healthy. Aren't young RTB built like that? All most a long thin build as compared to a BP that is really. Do you think that she should be fatter, she is about 20 inches long.

well, when my RTB was about 15 inches it was skinny like that, but once it hit 18inches it started getting fatter...and now at 24inches is pretty fat. um...i will find some pictures...

Does anyone think that my RTB is too thin? I have be worried about that too, but I thought that it was normal. She is really young and only 18-20". She eats well, poops well, and sheds perfect. The breeder I got her from had been feeding dat pinkies and I have been feeding large hoppers, mice hoppers. What should I do? Or will she thicken up? If you look at the pictures section of Ball Pythons, you can see how fat my 22" Bp is.

You could probably try something a bit bigger now, if you think your snake is a bit small. Just judge the prey size the same way you would do with a bp. BCI's are a bigger variety of snake than a bp and grow at a faster rate. As long as the prey is the correct size, you're good to go. With all the variety in prey sizes, it becomes hard for any of us to judge which "variety" ( hopper, small, medium, large ) is good for your snake without actually being there and seeing the mouse/rat first hand. I'd say, as long as the prey isnt too big, go for it.
