Hey guys and gals. I was wondering how hard it is to switch an older BP from eating live to eating FT?

Depends on the snake. I have some that took right to it without missing a beat and others take some time. Just make sure the thawed prey is hot enough to look like a live feeder which have a body temp around 100F. It may take it without a problem.

Of the 6 BP's i have i was able to get 4 to take F/T the first time i tried, the other 2 however....
seems to be different on every BP so just and keep trying :)

It depends on the animal, but it's not really that hard. Let it miss a few meals and if it's hungry enough it'll take it. There is NEVER any reason to force feed an animal that will eat under other circumstances. Doing so will be stressful to the animal and won't do you any good

×2. Force feeding is never the way to go, unless the animal absolutely will not eat and is rapidly losing weight. Even then, you would take the snake to the vet and possibly POSSIBLY have them or and experienced snake owner ASSIST feed a snake. Force feeding a snake involves actually shoving the food down it's throat. Assist feeding is just getting it into it's mouth enough for it to want to eat. But if you can get it to eat something else, do not even consider assist feeding. Again, let it skip a couple meals until it wants to eat. They can go for a very, very long time without eating.
