DIY Water Bowl?

After searching through pet stores and online, I've decided that I want to make a custom water bowl for my BP in his naturalistic terrarium. What kind of clay (or other substance) and water sealant could I use that's safe for my snake?

I'm also having same problem with them water dishes. Either they are ugly or they don't keep water. Lame. I'm reading that non toxic acrylic paint should be safe but I would like solid confirmation about that. I'm not willing to risk my beloved :snake:
