Will I need a bigger tank?

I have a Ball Python in a glass tank which is 20 inches by 10 inches and is a foot deep. The snake itself is about a foot and a half long and is going to grow. Will i need a bigger tank? if so, how big and how soon?

also, tips on keeping the tank humid? I've been spraying water through the top twice a day.

Adults can do well in a 40 gallon tank.

Things to help keep humidity:
1. Cypress mulch
2. Cover the screen lid. Leave a window for a che or lamp, and for air exchange. This can be done with a number of things. I use foil tape and a cardboard cutout covered in foil.
3. Moss can be dampened and placed in the hides to create higher humidity inside them.
4. Large water bowl.
5. Humidifier.

These are some common things.

Since your baby will need an upgrade anyway, skip buying a tank and get a proper reptile enclosure. It's well worth it not to have to fight to maintain the correct temps and humidity for the 20+ years BP's can live.

I like animal plastics caging, but there are many others also. Do a web search on reptile cages.

While there are a ton of different brands, the best source I've found is my local Craigslist or Facebook reptile forums. Used caging often goes for half the price of new simply because it's too big and heavy to ship.

as for size the rule of thumb is that a horizontal dimension (length or width) should not be less that half the length of the snake.

I second PVC terrariums like Animal Plastics. They're fully enclosed and keep heat and humidity trapped inside quite well.

I go by this. The length of the cage should be 2/3 of the snakes length and the width should be 1/3 of the snakes length. The height depends on the type of snake.

So a six foot snake should be in at least a 4 foot by 2 foot cage.

I have kept all my adult males in 20 longs, of course males for the most part don't get too big. However I did have one large female awhile back, and I did have her in a 40 breeder
