    New to snakes & morphs
I picked up my first snake a little over a week ago. He's a pastel lesser male and I was just wondering more about morphs. I'm going to repticon soon and I want to pick up a female snake to eventually breed him with. I was thinking of a female mojave but I was just wondering your opinions on what's popular or what would be a good starting point, thank you! It won't be anytime soon either.

you'll get some white snakes out of that clutch, honestly you can play around with the genetics calculator on worldofballpythons.com and see what certain combinations will look like mixed with you male

Yeah I was just playing around with that. I think I want either a mojave or a spider female to breed with mine.

Advice I got starting out: Always have Albinos & Pieds. The hets are a quick sell :) 2 gene babies of some of the more basic morphs are great starters. invest in your snakes. Don't cut corners on prices and have a well though out plan when purchasing. PastelxLesserxClownxSpider is a wicked combo !

Also, be sure to always breed a more or equally expensive male on a less expensive female whatever your choice is.

Make sure you read up on spider 'wobble' if you're thinking about breeding one eventually.

If I could pair any single gene morph with lesser pastel, I'd choose pinstripe.

I realize you already got the male, and getting one just because you like them is always a perfectly good reason :) , but if you are getting to breed always get the female first, they need to be larger and older to breed. You can get the male a year later, and often cheaper that next year (and sometimes pick up a breeder size male a year or 2 later for the same price as that hatchling now)

(but I got my male pied first, and my ivory first, just because I liked them...)

back to what you should get, I have seen a few breeder size mojaves lately (people upgrading and letting go of current breeders). I got one a few months ago and ended up getting a BEL out of her already :), or if you just want to play around, and this is more of a hobby (like it is for me), get what YOU like. Prices will always drop, expect to loose money (if you don't you will be pleasantly surprised :) )
