Hi guys my 95g ball python struck me but must she ended up with a mouthful of wood shavings a nd she has swallowed a lot she seems fine will she be ok ? If it was one or to pieces I wouldn't be to worried but it was a mouthful she couldn't not close her mouth for about 30 seconds. Thanks.

I am a new keeper so I cannot say much but I have been researching this while trying to decide where to feed. It seems like some people worry about impaction while others argue that snakes in the wild must sometimes swallow this type of thing in the course of eating or missing a pretty item. The main thing to watch for would be constipation, a hard lump at the base of the tail which would indicate a possible blockage. Someone with more experience should be along soon. Try not to panic yet, although I know that is easier said than done. He may digest it and be fine, monitor him and provide updates if you notice a change in behavior.

She'll be fine unless it was HUGE chunks.

Thanks for the reply. I have just fed her and from what I can see there seems to be no shavings in her mouth now so hopefully she will be fine. Thanks again for your help guys.
