New to Breeding
Any advice to help me this season would be awesome. Have my female fat and happy. Drop her temperatures at night to 75 and back to 80+ during the day. At what point do I introduce the male? How long does my male stay in before I take him out? Completely new to this and a little confused from the sources I have been reading. TIA
Always,
Kay

Re: New to Breeding
Btw, female is normal and male is LemonBlast.

No night drop is needed for ball pythons. Keep her temps as normal, there's less risk of them contracting an RI.
This is my weekly schedule for breeders:
Weekend: offer food (can be either Saturday or Sunday depending on my plans)
Tuesday night: male goes in with female
Thursday night: male comes out unless they're locked; in that case I just wait until they're done
Oh and no one warned me before I started breeding, but expect the female's enclosure to be filthy when it comes time to move the male back to his home.

Chances how you will still be confused when you get answers here.
Everyone does it a little differently so you will get many answer.
My best advice with everything you have read find what you think will work for you.
What I do: I don't drop temps, I breed year round, male stays with a female 2 days (less if I observe copulation), my males usually see the female they are "assigned to" once or twice a month. I paired my animals during cool front, rainy days, storm etc (pairing during low barometric pressure)

Re: New to Breeding
Thank You for your advice. Getting opinions and seeing what my pair prefers. This is day 2 of them being paired. May have latched yesterday (thought I seen them latched tails, 2 hours later they were not). We will see if I can get lucky this season. What advice is there for feeding female?

Good point, there's nothing like a thunderstorm to get them in the mood!

Re: New to Breeding
Funny part. Thunderstorm started an hour ago, they just latched a few minutes ago. Lol!
