Need help my ball python wont eat and has dry skin on its face (images)
Hey Guys
Thank you for taking the time to read my post i really need help
my ball python wont eat, yesterdaywas his feeding day and when i try to give him the mice
he would look at it for minutes but he never striked it
i feed him with frozen mice
this is the second time i was gonna feed him since i bought it two weeks ago
last Saturday when i was feeding him he did take it easily but yesterday he just kept looking at it and hr never ate it
im reallyworried cus i think he is too skinny if you look at it you can easily see his back bone
ANY ADVICE WILL BE APPRECIATED!
Another thing is that noe he has like dry skin on his face i dont know why im new in this and i been surfing the web and all i found
is people talkin about Respiratory Infection
but i dont hear wheezing while breathing
i read that when they keep their mouth open for long time its a sign of IR but mine doesnt open its mouth

HOPE YOU GUYS CAN ADVISE ME ON HOW TO HELP MY BALL PYTHON WITH ITS SKIN AND HOW TO GET HIM EATING AGAIN
ALSO WHAT YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT HOW SKINNY IS MY SNAKE?

Enclosure size, hides? Hide size compare to the animal, temperatures, where you are getting your readin, the type of thermometer you are using, humidity level, what the animal was eating previously, how often you have been handling the animal etc.
i have a 10 gallon tank with two hides one small and the other is large
the temp is around 80-85
and i also have a heat mat that i keep it in the 90
the humidity is most of the time 50-70 sometimes drops to 45 but i mist the enclosure to keep it high
i have zoomed analog thermometer and higrometer
and i have 1 thermometer reading each side te cool and the hot also 1 thermometer reading the heat mat so i can see how hot it is i do have a tstat for the mat
the guy at the store told me he was feeding him with live mice but i prefer frozen and last week i gave him a frozen meal and he took it i dont know why he doesnt want to take it this time :/

I always have the humidity 50-70 percent sometimes it drops to 45 but i mist the enclosure to increase the humidity
i have a 75watt heat lamp and a heat mat the lamp is always 80-85f
and the heat mat is always at 90f

How are you heating the prey before offering it?

I put the frozen prey inside of a cup with hot water and after that i wait till the prey is warm enough for him to take it without burning himself

This is very true/important. You may have more success using a hair dryer to warm up the prey. I used to use the hot water method but my snakes are picky and prefer there to not be wet even if you place them in a baggy they prey can still end up dripping wet which may be turning your little one off to eating it. Using a hair dryer also gets the scent of the food really flowing around the room and should entice him to eat since he knows food should be coming. Give it a try. [emoji4] works perfectly for me, and I hope it can get your little one going. Keep us updated.
