    Second BP? Suggestions?
I'm thinking of getting another BP, (towards the end of the year, perhaps early next year), after I get a little more acquainted with BP husbandry and what not. Long term goals may include breeding, but for now, purely for aesthetic's.

So that being said, what would BP morphs would you all suggest? Cost is somewhat of a factor, I wouldn't like to exceed $250-$300. I'm a big fan of "contrasty" morphs, but not so much albino's (assuming that they fall in that price range). Would it be effective to breed with a normal? (Would I end up with some good variation, or just half normals and half of whatever the other parent is?) I'm still struggling to understand the genetics and breeding of BP's, so a link would be extremely helpful as well.

I searched back about 15-20 pages through the General section, and did a specific search to no avail. Google hasn't been particularly helpful, either. Maybe I'm using the wrong keywords. In any event, I apologize if this has been covered!

    Thanks,

    Josh

    What do you have now?
A normal I assume but sex?
If breeding might be a plan down the road, start with buying females. They take a couple years to be ready to breed while a male can be ready to go in less than a year.

Yes, I have a normal. I'm pretty sure it's a female. When I got her, they said she was a little larger than normal to be a male. I also took her to a friend who's had a few BP's, he used the popping method, and didn't see anything that would indicate a male. So, for now I'll assume it's female.

To everyone else, thank you for the replies! I'll check out all of your suggestions!!

Buy one with as many genes as you can afford if you are looking for variety. I have a Lithium female and a Bumble Bee female (both cost $200 each) that I plan to breed with a Black Pastel Kingpin ($220...a good deal). If you use the genetic calculator each come up with 32 different snakes that could hatch from each. Research is key. Figure out what you like, of those figure out what is in your price range, then you'll be ready to buy your next snake...
