Eco-earth

I'm debating a change in substrate since the coco husk hasn't been holding humidity as well as I'd like. I'm thinking about ecoearth and wanted to get some input on it from people who have used it. I figure I need to find a way to feed him so he wont ingest any, otherwise anything I should look out for?

I use cypress mulch and it holds humidity very well. I wouldn't worry about your snake ingesting it, just try not to get the feeders wet so the substrate doesn't stick all over them. A bit of bark won't hurt them too much. You can also try putting him on paper towels in his cage so the feeder doesn't get dragged everywhere and have substrate cling too much.

Eco earth is just compressed coconut husk. You soak it to get it to expand, so it starts out as a wet mat, but otherwise it's the same thing.

It is coconut but its not the same. EcoEarth is ground and then compressed. Once wet it expands exponentially and becomes a damp dirt like consistency. I like it very much especially for animals that like to burrow but when it dries out it can be kinda dusty. I have started using a mixture of cypress mulch, eco earth, and repti bark. It holds humidity well and gives a very good natural look.

I just mix it in a large tub until it has the look I like and then scoop it in my cages. So far it is a great combo as its not dusty but its also not just course mulch.

I use Forest Floor mulch as it is clean and uniform in shard size.
