Snake acting weird after cage cleaning
Hi, I have a 3 yr old python I adopted about a month ago. Today I just cleaned out and replaced the bedding of his tank for the first time. After I put him back he checked everything out like it was brand new for a good while. But than I noticed him bury himself under the mulch instead of going into his hide spots (which he seemed to love them both before). I went to handle him about 3 hours after letting him settle back in, so far he's seemed really comfortable with me, but he started hissing and wouldn't come out of where he burried himself. However, it's feeding day, so I just tried feeding him wondering if maybe he's just grumpy cause he's hungry. He took the food right away. Should I be concerned?

    Nope. Just regular snake activity.

Agreed. I've seen mine do this too, especially after a complete tank cleaning. Don't be surprised if tomorrow you find a fresh poop too in the morning.

Look at it this way... you cleaned his home, gave him a nice comfortable spot to hide in, and then you try to pull him out of his new digs. You'd be grumpy too.

Okay, I just thought it was abnormal, at least for him. I've never seen him bury himself, it's always the hide spots he goes for. And usually really comfortable with being handled by me. He licks my face and loves to sit on my neck and everything. So I just got concerned. But he might;ve just been hungry lol

It most likely had nothing to do with being hungry. Its like bcr229 said. Do not think every time your snake gives a lil hiss its hungry. Sure it may eat but the two are not related. A hiss is just your snake saying your making it uncomfortable, its a warning or more accurate when dealing with balls a scare tactic.

Bloods are very vocal and mine hiss constantly, its not hunger.
