Breeders, a serious question for you.

I know a lot of you here on the forums breed and sell snakes. I have one simple question.
How do you not get emotionally attached to all of your cute little snakes? Is it a problem for some of you?

You get attached to a few of them but for the most part they all start to run together.

Aww that's kind of sad.

Its kinda like with rats, you will get attached to certain ones for whatever reason along the way. But as what was said before me, most of them kinda just blend together. It does not matter how many genes or what they look like, heck I have one normal female that really does not have much use to me but there is no way I will ever sell her. She was my first bite :D but she interacts with me more than any other bps I have.

I know some people have a lot of emotional attachment to their BPs, but for me there are very few reptiles that could cause that kind of connection. For the most part I enjoy their colors, the care, etc. more than anything else. Some of my rats and my ferrets fill that gap and I'll get a dog when I'm ready.

I do get attached to some. But I hatch out babies with the intention to sell them and so I know that they should be leaving soon(after eating and such, of course).

It's like raising animals for food too, that you can raise them and care for them and make sure they're as happy and healthy as possible but you know that they won't be around forever.

But there's always that one that will just somehow be special. Sometimes it's how they look but sometimes it's just them.

I have the same issues with the rats too. I can justify keeping females as future breeders, so I can cheat with them sometimes.

I've always wondered this as well. Mainly with replacing breeders with the offspring. Since you've spent time raising up the snake to be a breeder. I've never heard of becoming attached to hatchlings since they are meant to sell and you can't hold on to them all.
