Feeding during shed?
Hi i've seen a few different opinions on this but just fort i would ask the question. I recently started my collection of ball pythons and need all the help i can get. Should i feed my ball pythons during the build up to a shed if they take it? All of mine have so far but was just wondering if it should leave them to shed then feed them after?. Thanks alot.

Re: Feeding during shed?
I feed on feeding day if they are blue or not. Basically I let them decide if they want to eat or not. Most do but just be vigilant and don't leave feeders in too long (if live) just to be on the a safe side. When I feed frozen/thawed I don't thaw rats for the picky eaters in blue because I know they wont eat. You'll get to know your snakes and be able to make the best calls.

I feed the same day every week, who ever eats eats who ever doesn't will be fed the following week.
Most animals will actually eat during shed, I only have very few that will consistently refuse while in shed.

I tend to not feed them when they are in shed but that is mainly because i had some bad experiences with that when i was still keeping boa constrictors,
cause see very time i had fed my boa's when they where in shed their shed would be all in pieces all over their cages ( i think cause of the lump the prey was in the snakes belly)
but that is just my personal ecperience.

I offer, but a lot of mine refuse, so if I'm running short of rodents (I breed my own) I may skip one that is blue. Of course I have some who seem oblivious and eat no matter what.

I always feed on the same schedule and offer regardless. Most take it, and for those that don't it's not a big deal.

Re: Feeding during shed?
i feed mine the same day of the week, at the same time as the previous feed. i know thats not necessary, but my ocd gets to me lol. anyway, some snakes wont eat before a shed, and i was recently surprised when i offered one of my mojaves a meal after he refused it 3 days before, and he took it. later on that night, he began to shed! so i suggest try what you want, but in the end, its all up to your snake. some take them, some dont.
