    without looking at the suggested guidelines in place here I always suggest a simple free program to the users of my forums: easy thumbnails is a great program, easy to use and free. Search for it on googel...i don't remember the url off hand at the moment.

    I just resize them in the generic Paint program that comes with Windows. You can stretch/skew the images.

    the program I mentioned above will not distort images, it actually processes your images to create new ones so minimal if any quality is lost.
