    Lower Electric bill?
Ok ive had jazz for a while (2-3 years) im 16 so I live with my parents. My dad wants me to find a new way to heat them which ended with me with a stupid look at him. I use glass tanks but I want to build a rack (this should help because its melamine?) I use a 60watt for daisy and a 75 for jazz on 24/7 (see me problem here?) I think a melamine rack with heat tape (flexwatt) and idk about thermostats. Can anyone help me find a cost effective way to heat my snakes! [emoji50]

If the room your rack will be in does not stay at the proper temp range your ambient temps will be off.

Maybe giving the room specs that you will be using would help us help you and maybe the budget we are working with?

Well beet baggin starts in a while so $50 a day for a week should be enough maybe $100 on the weekend (per day). All my animals are in my room if im right its 10'-10' maybe a bit bigger, its stays around 70 or slightly above most time. We just got a pellet stove for the winter so during the winter months I can use less electricity. Any more info needed just specify and thanks for the help if you can! 😅

You should look into a PVC enclosure with RHPs (radient heat pannels). An Animal Plastic T8 will cost you $220 with shipping and a divider so you can keep both snakes in there. Two RHPs will cost you $80 for both. A thermostat is another 150. So for $450 you'll have a fully enclosed nice looking terrarium that will server for the lifetime for both of your snakes.

At 70 I believe you will find the room is not warm enough to keep your ambient temps up in a rack. Uth does very little for your ambient temps.

One option some have used is placing their racks or tubs in a closet and heating it with a small heater but I really doubt that would use less electric than your two current bulbs.

I think your best option would be to insulate three sides of your current tanks and make a cover for the screen to help keep heat and humidity in. You could use many different things like foam, cardboard, even thick paper. For the top I used cardboard cut to the desired shape with a cut out for the heat lamp to deliver its heat and light. I then wrapped it with aluminum foil. I just lay it on top so I can remove it when ever needed. Doing this may allow you to use lower wattage bulbs and will for sure help keep your heat in.

Ordering a better style cage and heat source will be several hundred dollars and that does not sound feasible for you right now.

I just heat my room lol. No flexwatt, no bulbs, no RHP's, no heat mats. Just a space heater with a Ranco ETC-111000.

Maybe you can make a small "room" out of 1.5" or 2" styrofoam insulation sheets to enclose your rack you wanna build. Super easy to keep ambients up that way with no need for supplemental heat. You could build into a corner of your room or do it in your closet. Small heater, a ranco, and a small fan would get you good to go like a pro lol
