    Help for new owner please!
Hi there folks, i'm new to all this so please be gentle with me!
I've inadvertently inherited a 4 foot ball python and a baby 18 inch red tailed boa. Its a long story and wasn't by choice but I'm determined to do my best for them and if I'm honest I'm already attached! They both handle and feed well (frozen) but I'm worried I am not maintaining the correct temps for them. Hubert the ball python, or Mr Hissy as I like to call him is in a 4 ft wooden tank with a glass front. He has an under floor heat mat, covered with a polystyrene sheet and thick bedding and a cave. He seems to spend most of his time in there. He has another hide on the other side of the tank and lots of foliage. The thermometer is on the 'cool' side of the tank and seems to hover around 70 degrees. Is this warm enough? The baby boa has an all glass viv with a heat mat underneath and the temp hovers around the mid seventies mark. She is often out of her hide, climbing etc. My question is should I buy heaters and thermostats for them or can anyone offer any better advice. It looks like I am going to be responsible for this lovely pair for some time and I want them to be happy and healthy. Any advice is extremely welcome.

As far as the ball python you want the cool side upper 70's or low 80's, and you will need a warm spot upper 80's to low 90's not over 95 forsure. I keep mine about 88, or thereabouts. So you will need the UTH, and a way to control the heat. Left uncontrolled an UTH will get hot enough to give the belly of your ball python a serious burn. Not sure about the RTB, someone will probably be able to give you some advice about him. :gj:
