Aspen stuck in mouth help please

Bean got to large pieces of aspen stuck in his mouth when eating and can't get them out. I've tried using really thin feeding tongs to try to pull it out but he either hides or hisses at me. What should I do to help him get them out? :confusd:

He ended up swallowing it but I can still see it in his throat when he yawns. Should I be worried?

I've done two things. When it first started to happen I was a lot more worried about it. You can take a Q-tip and use the middle part to open the mouth and then remove the foreign object. Most of the time this takes more than one pair of hands. I now just leave them be and eventually they will fix it themselves. As you can imagine this is what they would have to do in nature.

This is just my experience with it. Unless they are unable to close their jaw/mouth I would recommended just leaving it.

Okay, thank you. He seemed to clear it up himself. I was just concerned because I have absolutely no clue how susceptible snakes are to impaction.

I'm sure there are much worse things they have unintentionally swallowed while eating in nature. Glad it resolved.

Aspen, from what I am told will pass through the digestive tract without a problem. Your snake will be ok :gj:

You don`t need to worry at all, the stuck will be gone soon. I had a similar experiece and you don`t need to be concerned at all. Just let the snake be alone so it won`t be stressful.
I recommend you to use packing paper which can be purchased at home depot or lowe`s or just newspaper as ball python substrate.
