Is my snake ok?

    my snake has a reddish-purplish line goin down its underside clos to the tail.is this a problem?my temps are 88 through the day and 80 4 night.he is a newborn and has never shed.he ate a week ago.Please help.

    well.... the only thing I can think of is scale rot/burns... but that usually isnt purple. does it look like a burn??? what kind of substrate are you using, and do you have something preventing the snake from touching the heating pad??? a real pic would be more helpful... :)

    Need a pic - might be the omphalos (like our belly button) from where he was conencted to the yolk sac in the egg (would look like a slit running lengthwise on the ventral bout 1/4 way up from the tail). Def give us a pic or hit the vet to make sure though.

    Assuming it looks like what I am thinking - our first blood, Kali had similar and it worried me sick until Kara and some other folks helped me ID it for what it was. Still without a pic we're left with nothing to go on but wild conjecture.

    no pic sry.it looks like scale coloration with a pink outline.
