Hi.... Am I ok to use a red infrared heat bulb 24/7 as my heat source? Anybody have long term experience of this? Does it seem to harm the snake? Should I just see how she behaves under the light ?

88f on the floor under bulb

Red is good. Temps are good. I have used red bulbs a long time with no issue.

Hi... Ok that's great, a relief! As I've only had her a few days and been battling the temp, first had a heat mat with rubbish stat in which temps fluctuated way too much plus the air temps were way to low, then I got a ceramic but just seemed to heat up the air and not much floor heat ? Maybe I needed a higher watt!
now I'm on the red infrared bulb lol... My humidity is 45-50 which I've read is too low so that's the next job?

I will be feeding her first meal with me tomoro, hopefully she's hungry!
    Thanks again

45-50 humidity is fine as long as you boost it during a shed.

A trick I use is adding moss to the hides. This makes them feel even more secure and when dampened raises the humidity in the hide. Since the hide is where your snake spends most of its time the humidity is put to good use. This does not raise the overall cage humidity but it delivered it right where its needed.

I dampen it and then allow it to dry out during regular times but during a shed I keep it damp throughout the shed.

Great thanks for the tip.... I will be watching for signs of her shed and hope it goes well. She does spend equal time outside of her hides as she does in them. Hopefully she will be a happy snake!
    thanks
