Easy question about heating

hey, so I got my first BP yesterday. he's 3 years old and I bought him with his enclosure. he currently lives in a 38 qt plastic tub with holes drilled in the sides.
as for heating, there is one large heat pad, set at 90 degrees placed underneath half of the enclosure and the other half has no heating.

should i get another heating pad for the other side of his cage and set it at 75? I am worried that he is too cold.

Heat pads won't keep the ambient temperatures up. Do you have a heat lamp?

I use a heat lamp with a 75 watt red bulb in addition to the heat pad to keep the ambient temps where they should be.

how do I go about doing that if I am using a plastic tub? can I just put the heat lamp above the tub?

What I did was cut a circle out of the lid that was around the same size as the rim of the heat lamp. I then secured a flat mesh strainer (similar to this: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...cL._SX300_.jpg) over the hole in the lid to prevent my snake from burning himself on the heat lamp or possibly escaping.

Does that make sense? It's a little confusing, I know.
So basically you have the hole in the lid of your tub, the mesh strainer on top of that, and the heat lamp on top of the strainer.

Just depends on how your ambient room temp is. Personally ive found balls do just fine down to about 75 degrees cool side. A little cooler at night is fine as long as it gets up higher during the day, they have acess to a basking site 24/7, and plenty of ventilation in the tub.

During winter I could see situationally needing to heat the cool side depending on your climate, but during the summer I find it hard to believe that it would be neccicarily, unless you blast your AC

Do you know the temp of the cool side or just assuming it's too cold? It could be perfectly fine as is. If you do want more heat don't get a lamp just add another Uth.

I would get a temp gun and check to make sure the temps are good and the uth should be fine. I personally wouldn't get a lamp. But first I would check the temps and go from there
