    Laying on water dish?
    I've noticed that every so often my ball python will lay half out of his warm hide (and only the warm one despite the water bowl being equally between the warm amd cool) and rest his head on the rim. He isn't sitting in the water or curling around the bowl completely.

    Could it possibly be too hot and this a method of cooling down somehow, or is it just a comfortable way to sit? The warm side is about 91 degrees, so if it felt too hot, wouldn't he just be spending his time in the cool side? Or could it be a problem with the hide itself?

    It is probably trying to take a drink but freezes when it notices you. My ball and my bloods will do this.

    Hm, that's probably it, but he was hanging out there for a good 20+ minutes so I was a bit paranoid haha. Thank you! ;w;

    Yea I swear my balls will have their head in one position for an hour just as you describe. And they're just drinking water. By the way took forever for me to figure it out.

    In my experience both pythons and boas are very found of water. So it comes as no surprise for me to see one of my snakes hanging around or in their water dish. ;-)
