    Sexing Help
So Im building up a collection to begin breeding soon. I have a few bps, and i know the basics for sexing via popping, but im just worried ill hurt a snake and thats something i really dont want to do. I want all my snakes to be healthy and you know, not have any problems down there. I've tried a few times on my male butter orange ghost, just to give it a try, and i cant get it down, can someone please just explain exactly how much pressure to apply, does it differ by size of the snake? This guy is about 170-200 g. The next weigh date is this Friday so i will have an exact weight then, but last weigh in he was 177g. and has been pounding food. I also have a male butter who was 480g last weigh in. Also the whole 1.0, is it 1.0 for male and 0.1 for female, or other way around? Just getting started in this breeding thing/keeping multiple snakes. Been a snake keeper for a while now but never thought about breeding/sexing my boa. But I fell in love with bps and decided to start breeding so now i need some help.

That's an easy wait. Try doing it to a 800+ gram male... And they can REALLLY hold it in.... Try going to a local expo/breeder and ask them to show you, I was tought by a breeder near me. ITs easy once you get it down, but as you said can easily hurt the snake.

I watched tons of videos on youtube before I took the chance, it is a bit of a challenge at first ut you will soon get the hang of it.

The only way to fully grasp how much pressure need to be applied is by learning by someone that can show you how to. It's not only pressure it is also proper positioning of your fingers.

Find someone local to you that can teach you.

The main mistake I have seen with people I have taught in person is that they were not applying enough pressure.

Once you learned how to pop animals of various size, it's all about practice.

the biggest mistake when trying to pop a male is positioning. if placed too near the cloaca, the thumb is putting pressure over the hemipenes and is simply squishing it instead of pushing it out...
