    Mites???
    I currently have a western hognose and I noticed today that there were small white bugs crawling around one of his hides. The hide is always moist with sphagnum moss. I currently don't see the bugs anywhere else, and none on my snake. What are these???

    white bugs could be springtails, these are good guys so nothing to worry about if it's them......they do eat fungi, so if you have them it must mean your humid hide has fungi/mold, not really bad since fungi occur naturally in humid environment, but i prefer not to have them.
    mites are dark colored, they're hard to see on substrate and on dark colored snakes, very easy to spot on albinos or lucys.....

    Thanks. I'm not too upset anymore. But I still made sure the bugs were gone and that they don't come back.
