Feeding after laying eggs

How soon after laying should I start offering food to my female? I waited a week and she wasn't interested at all. I raise my own rats, so its no big deal to offer her something every week, just wondering what is normal.

I simply feed them on my next scheduled feeding day. I've had them eat the same day. Have you cleaned her and her cage real well?

Common sense FWT!

Did you wash her and her tub after she laid her eggs. If she smells the egg sent she will not eat.

I wiped it down and replaced substrate (paper towels). I'm not sure if that's enough. Should I still scrub it down at this point? I'm sure this doesn't matter, but she is not in a rack, in a larger custom cage.

my breeder female ate the same day i took the eggs out...

the female snake needs to be washed also, i use liquid had soap. no need to scrub her, just work a lather on her entire length and rinse well, except on her head of course...
also, eggs have fluid coating on them, if this seeped down to the bottom of the enclosure, you have to scrub it to completely get rid of the egg smell...
you might temporarily move her to another cage if thorough cleaning of her big enclousre is not practical.

I keep a spare rub set up so I can remove eggs wash the female and put her into the clean rub, then I clean the dirty rub and set it up for the next one.

Ideally you want to do more then just wipe down and yes it matter, getting the smell of eggs is important.

Any tub where a female just laid gets a good scrub and get bleached, then the female get wipe down with a chlorhexidine solution.

Doing this get the majority of female back on track within days.
