    Is this an Enchi?
Wanting to buy an enchi girl, found this one. As far as I can tell the blushing just makes her look like a pastel to me. They say she has paperwork from her original breeder, but can someone please elaborate on what makes an enchi an enchi?

Going to go with no. The color is totally wrong for an enchi.

Yeah she just doesn't look like an enchi to me. :l I just saw your post in an old thread with your nice looking enchis. Can anyone elaborate on the characteristics of an enchi? I know some morphs have a definite way of distinguishing which morph they are, and was wondering what it could be for an enchi. Green eyes, orange colors, banding..any belly characteristics or other things?

    Thank you

Study as many photos as you can. For me I like a high yellow.

It's a color and a pattern mutation so you have a couple things to look for. You can look for the reduced pattern that they normally have and I think there is a shape too that is pretty specific to them like the Black Pastel has but it's not 100 percent so look at a 100 pictures to makeup the difference lol. The side pattern color will be a golden yellow, the dark pigments are brownish and the "saddles" will be a copperish color. I don't think there are any tell-tale signs really. Al the old threads I looked at people always seem to like side pics when deciding Enchi or not. It's strange because all these morphs have variation so I'll try to find the extremes on both end and just compare pics until I'm cross eyed. I think the Admin JLC has posted on here about them too in a little bit more detail or at least the history.

Since Robert mentioned he likes high yellow, I like clean awesome patterns :)

Here are some more photos they sent. You can see the colors better here, but to my understanding enchi's are not supposed to have black. Is that true?

    TBH I think it's a normal.

I have a very low expression enchi from this years clutch but even then you can see the distinct line half way up the body as the colour changes.

But then I tend to suck at morph identification.

    Re: Is this an Enchi?
Thanks everyone for the feedback. If she did turn out to be an enchi I guess it would be a very low quality one, and not something I'd like to breed. If it's that hard for me to tell it's an enchi it'll be a nightmare for my deciding what the offspring are.
