    Heat Tape and Thermostat
Im going to buy a thermostat and heat tape today but i have questions. I plan on buying a HydroFarm thermostat because im trying to save money. Does this work good with heat tape? Also, ive never used heat tape before. Im going to use it on my 2 41qt tubs. How much should i buy and what width tape should i buy?

Kyle imma come to your house and set it up for you..

2-12 inch pieces with some 14 gauge or better wire them in series.
    OR
4 feet of 6" in one continuous piece snaked through the rack.

I run both my racks on tape. If you want I am pulling the back heat on my 41s cause myn6" arrived yesterday. I can post pics of install tomorrow evening if you want..

I would be leary of buying a cheap thermostat. Your dealing with electrical that can catch racks and house on fire if not regulated good and you could melt tubs and kill snakes if it fails. Not saying even the most expensive thermostats wont fail but remember you get what you pay for!

Yes, the hydrofarm will work. There are many keepers here using them, I have one on my QT rack now and another on a couple geckos.

I agree with Pit. Hydrofarm will work for just fine.
