subtrate for maternal incubation

I currently have my mama snake on paper towels. What would be the best substrate to have her on while the eggs cook with her?

I'm having success with Eco-earth. It's also my favorite substrate for ball pythons in general. I just periodically misted the substrate around momma, and then added a large tupperware container with water next to her to maintain higher humidity.

Cool thanks. Iv Tryed reptiles bark and eco earth for my snakes but switch to paper towels cause of less to clean up and the snakes love it. Lol. I'll pick some eco earth up tomorrow. Now to try to separate her from the eggs without gettin bit. Lol.

Honestly, I'd just prepare the eco-earth over the next day or so, and then slowly add it around her. That way you don't end up bothering her too much.

Also, my females ended up pushing most of the eco-earth out from under them. So, I just mounded a little extra up around them.

Thanks. Yes really attached to her hide she's in. She's squeesed in there with the six eggs. How do I get the eco earth in the hide without making her stressed?

Well, personally, I'd just add it around the hide. It'd get the humidity up. Though, you would be hard pressed to see when the eggs are pipping. Perhaps remove the hide after awhile? I'm no expert by any means, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. I'm interested in seeing what others would suggest. :)

It definitely is. I've been thrilled every day getting up, and coming home from work to check on my eggs that are hatching. What day are the eggs on?

Mine are on day two. I got a long ways to go. :( to be honest even if their all normals I will be excited. To watch the process for the first time is amazing. I such a worrier tho. I'm checking on temp and humidity like every five minutes. Lol.

I understand the paranoia, but I didn't check on mine obsessively. I waited a day or two in between check-ins on mine.

What genetics are involved in your clutch?
