What temp and humidity gauges do you use
Setting up an AP T10 and curious as to what gauges people are using. Type, where you purchased, how you got them in the cage and placement location. I know there's a ton experienced keepers here reading these and your advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

I'm running a herpstat 2 to control flexwatt and an RHP. Also use a temp gun to spot check temps but wanted something in the cage as well to monitor temps and humidity.

To measure temps & humidity I use an Acurite indoor/outdoor thermometer that measure humidity as well. They are perfect to use for your vivariums since they have a probe that you can place on the hot side and the unit as a whole measures the temperature on the other side or wherever it's placed. It also measures humidity perfectly. You can buy them at Walmart for pretty cheap here's the link to it if you want to buy one [emoji4]

Edit: oh also for settling on of these up (I don't have an AP vivarium I have an Proline cage) I put the unit on the cool side of the cage and then use the ventilation holes in the back of the cage to pull the probe through to the other side so the cord won't be all over the place on the inside, then you stick it to the bottom of your hot side or wherever you want to put it & your all set up :) the device also has a clock setting so you have to push a button on the front to get it to the indoor/outdoor temp/humidity setting :)

I second the Acurite indoor thermometers and what Alexis has done. I have mine on the cool side and then the probe on the warm side under the hide. They work so well. I would recommend sending an order to your local Walmart and pickup in store. I did that and they had it ready the same day so I didn't waste time driving and getting there to find out they don't have it. They are very accurate and work very well!

Definitely order it online for in store pick up because these things sell out SO fast! When I needed one I went there expecting them to be there and they were ALL gone. So save yourself a wasted trip and order it online lol [emoji12]

Thanks. Have seen a few posts recommending these. In fact went to walmart to get one and they didn't have any. Guess I'll order online.

So you're mounting the unit itself inside the cool side and probe to hot. Does it display temp and humidity of cool side and hot side temp from probe? Would like to see all those on one display without having to reach in cage to hit a button to see the different measurements.

It's displays 3 numbers. The temp of the probe, the temp of the cool side, and the humidity %. You don't have to push the button all the time just once so it will display what you want it too instead of the clock lol. But I will post a pic of what mine looks like :)

The outdoor temp is the probe temp, the indoor temp is the temperature reading from where the unit is placed, and humidity is humidity :) but yes I do have mine sitting in the corner of the cage on the cool side with the probe on the warm side underneath the hide. Like so:

See how I pulled the probe cord through the ventilation holes?
