UTH T-stat temperatures and Accurite probe temps waayy off
Can someone help me try to solve why my t-stat temps and what the Accurite temps are showing are off? I have my t-stat set for 93.3 degrees but my thermometer says the temps get to 85 and they don't move up. I've been trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong for the past two days :rage:. I've even tried raising to thermostat to around 98 degrees (I took Vigil out when I did this) and the thermometer was telling me it only went up to about 86 when raised it.

Are you using heat tape or a UTH? Where do you have the t-stat probe located on the heat source?

I'm using a Uth and the t-stat probe is in the middle of it
Re: UTH T-stat temperatures and Accurite probe temps waayy off
What kind of t-stat are you using?
I use an accurite w/ my herpstat to monitor the temps in my rack but I couldn't get similar readings for the longest time. I ended up taping the accurite probe to the inside of a spare tub, right over the heat tape. That was the only way I could ever really acheive similar readings. Unfortunately, taping the accurite isnt an option in an inhabited enclosure due to the dangers to the snake that tape can cause.
Are you using an aquarium style tank or a tub? Do you have the accurite placed directly over the heat source or is there some form of substrate between the accurite and the UTH?

You need to adjust you t-stat until the hot spot reaches the right temp.
The t-stat probe should be on the heat source, not in the enclosure.
The thermometer probe should be above the hot spot, I would however recommend a temp gun instead.
The difference between the t--stat temp and hot spot temps will depends on various things, heat pad, thickness of enclosure, substrate etc.
The T-stat probe is sandwiched between the glass and the UTH, the thermometer is placed over the UTH. It's in a 40 gallon tank and the substrate isn't too thick over the UTH.

I'm using the Hydrofarm T-stat, he's in a tank and the thermometer is on the cool side of the tank and the probe for the hotside is between substrate and the UTH
