Help with the substrate

I have a question? I have all my snakes on bark and I start noticed that some of them have a couples of scratches plus they're getting their belly kind of reddish. So I was think to shift to another substrate but I'm not too sure which is the best one for them. I definitely not want to use paper towel or news papers. I need some opinions and advice tnx

I love coco fiber. It is awesome in holding humidity and is easy to spot clean.

I dig the zoo-med brand "forest floor" cypress mulch.

The reddish is just the "natural" coloring from the bark, I did find that the bark substrate bleeds color a little more then the Coco fiber/husk. I know the feeling when my gorgeous little Spied was all reddish!!!! had to give him a couple baths, and 2ish sheds for the coloring to go pure white again

As for scratches, I dont think its from the substrate prolly either a kicking rat, or even just the rat claws on the squeeze

I have used a few substrates with my snakes and I have noticed that Zoomed Forest Floor Cyprus Mulch works amazingly well. It holds moisture very so it makes your job easier when it comes to humidity levels. My friend uses both coco fiber and cyprus mulch.

I use good old Home Depot $4 for a giganto bag cypress. :) organic of course.

Thanks guys I think imma go with the forest flor cuz I still have some difficulties dealing with the humidity

This is the way to go. You just have to make 100% sure that it's organic, as you said, and has nothing but cypress in it. That's why I pay extra for the zoomed stuff--I know I can't make a mistake and buy the wrong bag.
