Is my ball python too fat?
I have a female cinnamon who almost a year old now. She weighs 487 grams; just weighed her a few seconds before these photos were taken. I'm worried that she looks too chunky. I know ball pythons are supposed to be thick snakes, but I have a male cinnamon who is almost the same age as her and he looks so slender compared to her! I read they aren't supposed to get hefty until they're adults and being only a year-ish old she still has a ways to go. I'm feeding her a weaned rat every week. Maybe these worries are for nothing, but I want to make sure I'm not compromising her health! I fed her three days ago in these pics.

She looks fine. My females are all a bit thicker than the males, it's because they're built to carry eggs.

I'd love to see a fat ball python.

They're supposed to be chunky! And a lot of females are ready to breed by a year and a half to two years old. Breeding size is 1500g. So if your girl is almost 500 at a year old, shes definitely not overweight.

Thanks for all of the replies! It's good to know that my girl isn't overweight. :) I was going to up her prey size soon but didn't want to if she was bigger than she should be. Guess I don't have to worry about that now!

    Nope, looks good.
They all grow at different rates.
I have two girls that broke the 1000g mark in a year and some that are not even 800g at the two year mark.

Not fat at all BP's are stocky snakes!!!

A sign for an obese BP is scale separation when/if you can see white lines around/between there scales, thats a sign they are getting a lil chubby

She looks good. As far as I know BPs dont get fat. They stop eating when they want.
