Can anyone tell me if the D.I.Y humuidifier works well or not?

Sure does. I used a larger Gatorade bottle when I made mine - used a glue-gun (thermal) and it ran like a champ for months no problems (other than routine refilling). Don't skimp on the air pump or it wont be as effective if at all - spend the couple extra$ and get one rated for 30+ gal.

(EDIT - haven't used it since I swapped that tank for tupperware)

Mine worked great also. I used an extra heating pad to keep the water in the bottle constantly warm ( warm water evaporates faster ).

I use mine in the winter as I keep a woodstove in my kitchen for extra heat. Keeps us toasty, but makes the house super dry. Smulkin's not kiddin about the pump size, I keep my bp in a 30 gal and the pump is rated for up to 60. When it comes to the pump, the bigger the better. The reservoir can be anything, I like to change them once in a while as new and better bottle types become available in the house.
