Can your bp tell you apart?

I know it may sound silly but whenever my dad comes and tries to hold my girl, when he reaches for her she'll hide. Every time. But with me she doesnt. Shes also very jumpy when people walk by or move around her, but not with me. Do you think your bp or snakes in general recognize your scent?

My snakes are more comfortable with me than other people in the household but I don't think they RECOGNIZE me, exactly.

I am more comfortable holding them, so more secure in how I handle them.
I have handled them more and know their preferences.
I am generally warmer than most other people here, who run kind of cool.

I also think though that they're fully capable of recognizing that a given scent is associated with 'not a threat' and that applies to people and the way they smell, too. I handle them a lot more than anyone else and I'm pretty sure they're all capable of realizing that that smell means 'warm furniture' rather than 'potential predator'.

That's about as far as I think it goes, though.

I completely agree with CptJack here. Association by Scent. Is the best way to put it.

I wouldn't go as far as to say they smell you and go 'heeeeey its my friend'. but rather they smell you and think "im probably not going to get eaten..... "

And like any animal. A new scent is unfamiliar ground, so they are more cautious and weary of it. No different from a cat or dog really in that regard.

Aswell nerves, i feel they do sense our anxiousness or emotions somewhat, So when i pick one up its like I'm scooping candy out of a jar, Friends, GF, If parents come over to see, its like they are picking up a Venomous killer! Where as i dont give them time to ball/coil/strike me

I believe you may be right. Im the same way! I hold and cuddle her whereas my dad just holds his palms out like hes afraid he'll break or drop her.
