HELP with a twisted umbilical please !
This is my first year breeding and my last clutch came out yesterday ( pics soon) all except one. I cut the egg open further today to find that the baby had its umbilical cord twisted around its head and had a lot of (what I assume is yolk) left. I cut the baby out of the egg and found that its umbilical was twisted up. I untwisted put it in a tub and put it back in the incubator. Can anyone tell me if I should try and let it digest what is left or do I need to tie it off and cut it? I had one that in another clutch this year that was in a egg that I thought was going to go bad but after the others from that clutch came out and it didn't I cut the egg away (because I thought that the baby was badly deformed) and found that the baby was ok but its yolk had hardened and was unable to be absorbed so I tied it off and cut it loose) and that baby is fine. But this egg did not look bad at all and the umbilical was just twisted so I don't really know about what to do in this situation. The baby seems fine and I would love to keep it that way so some more experienced opinions would be appreciated. http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps2f840aea.jpg http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps1be191a3.jpg http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/a...psd2904865.jpg

Right now place the BP in a deli cup with damp paper towel to see if he absorbs it's yolk over the next 48 hours, if not you will see how to proceed in the thread above.

Thanks for the links grcforce and Deborah. I think that everything is going to be fine with it though. I just checked on it and in the few hours since I untwisted it's umbilical it has absorbed a lot of it already. Thanks again.
