humidity around 60%-80% is ok?

hey guys I was wondering if having the humidity around 60-80% ok? During the day I have a day lamp that dries out the tank some and cause the humidity to be around 40% during this time I spray the tank down and the humidity will sit between 50-60% during the day. But at night when the lamp is off the humidity will rise to about 80%max. this is what I am reading from my humidity gauge. its not a digital one but the old school ones which I heard could miss read. Is my baby ok with high Humidity or am I setting him up for RI? I know you want the humidity to be high during the shedding period.

I can't really answer that but I'm sure some one else will. What type of enclosure are you using and what substrate? Also what are the temps at if the humidity is fluctuation that much? I would feel better about answering that question based off of what I've read if I knew the answer to those questions.

I'll tell you what I tell everyone about humidity (I don't expect everyone to agree with me) but it's what I found works. I keep my humidity at around 40% all the time, EXCEPT when they are in shed. At which point I bump it up to 60-70%.

Why?

I find high humidity can lead to RI's - I was keeping my guys at 60 - 80% all the time for the first year I got them and I had to keep fighting off RI's. Switched to 40% and I haven't had an RI in 4 years...

Just my experience, take from that what you will.

glass 40 gallon tank, eco earth with forest floor mix, and around 70-85 degrees. also I hav a towel over half the top of the tank. my apartment is kind of cold since it being summer and all

I might just take off the towels off and keep it at around 50. I have heard mixed things that low humidity can cause RI and high humidity cause RI which one is it? I would feel a lot better knowing. Because it is hard to keep his humidity up. I plan on buying a exo terra monsoon for his tank. I also have live plants in his tank to up the humidity.

Then from what decensored said it sounds ok as long as they do have belly heat and 70 is the lowest it gets. Now I'm worried about my constant 70 percent humidity though!!! Looks like I am off the computer and making some new vent holes right now!

yes I almost forgot I do have a UTH too

edit: sorry getting my threads mixed up. 40%-50% is what Im comfortable with until they're shedding.

He meant 70% humidity.

I'm in the south. Right now my household humidity is 67% and most of this summer it's been about 60%. The tanks are sitting right at that. The tubs are a few % higher, so about 70% most of the time. Not a whole lot I can do about that, either. They've had good sheds and no sign of RI though so I'm not sweating it. I will in winter, when heating dries things out.
