Making Humidity..

Help!! My humidity is way low, like 35%. I recently switched to a larger tank, 40 gallon long and now I can't get my humidity up. I do use a digital therm. I've got moss in the tank, water dish and half the tank covered with plexiglass, I'm misting but the temp (humid ) goes down as fast as it goes up. Because of the size of the tank I needed to put a small heat lamp on the cold side along with the hot side heat lamp and human heat pad. I know heat lamps wipe out humidity but I need both of them to keep my heat up,( hot at 90-93 / cool at 78-81 ). Tryed wet towels, did not work. My quesions are, is there any kind of humidity maker out there that I can put in the tank, ? also will this low humidity hurt my girl in any way?? I've got to get it working before her next shed. Please any help would be Great, Thanks... Troy.

im sure you already know but those lamps suck up the humidity fast.

Right know i have reptile carpet and i havent had to mist on it becuase my humidity is already at 60 (i had to lower it becuz it was WAY HIGH) but it holds alot of water and maybe that will work for you better.

maybe get a fish tank air stone and put it in your water dish or try some damp sponges in the tank.

and other than misting and maybe getting a bigger water dish or making the one you have REALY FULL i really dont know what else to tell you but i hope i helped maybe just a little

i agree with everything above. maybe try a humidifier in the room that the tank is in? just get a small one at walmart (20 bucks) and this will also help out with winter dryness. humidity is going to get worse in the winter.

Hey!! Thanks everyone for the advice. I found something called a Humidifier and Air Exchanger, I'm going to see if any of the stores in my city might carry one of these. Do you think the low humid. will hurt her in any way??

maybe dehydrate her, but as long as you fix as soon as you can she should be okay.

ok, you probably already know that if you put her water bowl over a heat source it wil cause humidity, mist 1 time a day, and cover half of the screen lid with suran wrap. that should bump your humidity up by 10-20% if you do it correctly.

actualy i would mist a couple times a day, especially if you are using a substrate that dries out fast, but yeah cover your top with somthing, saran wrap works great (i used to use it but now that i switched to peg board cut to fit my lid i dont have to use it anymore)

What is your humidity now? As long as she isnt exposed to a low humidity for an extended period of time ( not misting for a couple of days ) she should be ok till you get the problem fixed.

Still having a hard time keeping it above 40%, getting worried, I've done everything mentioned.
