What kind of heating pad should i buy?
what kind of heating pads should i buy for my ball python while using a plastic tub that's 1 meter long x 50 cm wide? i don't want to end up burning the plastic or having it melt down.. is there a specific known brand? and how big should it be..also, how do i place it ?

You need a thermostat to go with any heating pad. Once you have that and the heating pad plugged into it, you won't have to worry about melting or burning plastic... or a burned snake. I think I just have Zilla UTH - get the appropriate size for the tub.

As long as you have a thermostat it wont matter.

Yep like the others have said, gotta have a themostat, personally I have always had good luck with ZooMed, but brand doesn't really matter...

Placing it's easy. Peel off the paper backing, stick it onto the bottom of the tub on one end - easy peasy. I sandwich the t-stat probe between the pad and the tub.

(Also, I went to look - I'm using ZooMed, too.)

Even easier to remove the wax paper and cover it with aluminum foil tape (sticky side to sticky side) so there is no adhesion able to stick anywhere.
Now you just use foil tape along the edges to secure it to whatever you want AND its reusable without risk of damage. ;)

Instead of a heating pad why wont you just use heat tape? It's going to be cost you a lot less than a heating pad and it works just the same. Plus, it's a lot thinner.

Ultratherm UTH pads from Reptile Basics are very good. As Pitontheprowl said use foil tape and you can re-use the pad when/if you change cages. Heat tape is fine but if you don't want to wire it just get a UTH. If you are looking to save some cash a decent thermostat for around $31 is the Hydrofarm. It works well with UTH set ups. There are lots of options. Good luck.
