    Why is my BEL stripey?
    I need advice again folks.

The parents were both lessers ( Noah line ) and the only other BEL I have from the pairing was pure white.

But this little guy seems to have patches of yellow on his cheeks and a full racing stripe either side of his spine from neck to tail tip.

I have searched google images in vain trying to find one with similar markings.

Can anyone weigh in if it is an extra gene, nothing unusual or a sign that he is "low quality" please?

This is Mom and dad if it sheds any light.

I have no idea what would be going on there. Mom and dad don't look like they have anything odd going on.

I definitely wouldn't consider it just a "low quality" BEL though...if anything I'd pay a little extra for that guy just due to his unique look.

Wonder if it will fade as he ages?

Do you have a pic of his face?

Mojave X Lesser is reported to produce the most white of the BELS, while lesser X lesser and mojave X mojave have some color discoloration at times. Sometimes moderate, sometimes extreme. Beautiful animal, however.

EDIT: Also, as he ages the color should bronze out or turn a platinum color because he is from Lesser X Lesser.
Mojaves x Mojaves have more purple effects if there are any discolorations and also bronze out with age, but not to the same extent.

I should say the markings definitely do not make your animal any less marketable than a pure white BEL, because a lot of individuals love the discoloration. Some people of course prefer white, but others definitely love a little mark to their pythons.

    Hope that helped.

I'll see if I can get a face picture tomorrow. It's quite tricky to get the yellow to show.

I think he looks cool. Also, I thought the Mohave x Lesser BEL's were whitest, with Super Mohaves and Super Lessers having just a bit of color and pattern, to make things interesting.

I think it may have something to do with the line your using,
I've heard the noah line sometimes can produce some interesting offspring.
I would look into it and hold that animal, just in case.

My Super Mojave Sulfur female has a distinct line.
Basically, the top half of the snake is yellow and the bottom half is white. Similar to yours,
but yours seems to have more of a stripe that half and half.
