I had a couple miss hits today. First my crabby female pastel struck and coiled around the feeding tongs and I heard her teeth clink. I am very worried about that hurting her! She did take the second time around and thanks to my excellent mouse placement she was able to re-strike and coil dispatching the frozen thawed mouse quickly. I am thinking that the heat sensor part of this throws them off and I am thinking about letting my mice sit in mega hot water for a minute then dry them off with a paper towel and then try feeding.
The other less dramatic feeding situation was with my spider girl who managed to attack 1/2 of the mouse and part of her paper hide. Not a big deal and she corrected it soon after. Again I think if she could have used all her senses to go for this mouse then she wouldn't have missed. I also got another look at her dry patch. There is without a doubt a patch of her shedding that never got removed. Her temps and humidity are great now and if anything humidity is a tad too high. Hopefully next shed she gets better.
