My boy in blue again

Giving him a nice soak to help the upcoming shed.

I guess to each his own, but I never did soak mine like that. I always just misted the enclosure down more often when they are going to shed...anyway nice looking snake you have there :)

Thanks. I only soak this guy, he's been having minor incomplete sheds the past two times. So trying out the soaking method

I dont soak or mist. I just make sure humidity is where it should be. Are you keeping him in a tank?

He's in one of those plastic critter cages 10 gallons. I usually don't mist my other Herps too. Oh I should mention I'm in south east Asia so the humidity is pretty much in the 55-60 the year round. [emoji16]

Soaking is probably to blame for some of this, Soaking doesn't help with getting 1 piece sheds, nearly as well as Just give him 1-2 mist's a day.


My room humidty is 55-65 depending on the day in Summer here. And on coco husk they all shed 1 piece, dampening it before shed. My smaller guys who are on paper till 600+grams, Get misted one time at night and have all had perfect sheds.

Hmmm will take note bout that. If the problem still persists then I'll probably try something else. Thanks for the info Corbin!

Wow. He looks amazing even in shed! My Ball Python would never stay in water like that. He slithers out every time I try getting some stuck shed off.

My understanding is that during the shed process there are two layers of skin,
in between them is a layer of oil, by soaking him your removing the oils causing dry or stuck sheds.
My thoughts would be to raise the humidity to seventy percent and stop soaking him.

No need to just. Just most him more while he is in shed. If the top of the tank is screen just cover most if that with plastic during shedding as well
