I need a bigger snake..

So. I breed my own rats, right? Well when they get big and retired I have nowhere for the to go. They basically get put to the side and live til they die(well none have died yet). Seems like a good excuse to get another snake, something over than a bp that can handle these jumbo sized rats-was thinking a red tail. But I also like the idea of having something a little less common, retics are too big-so don't suggest those lol

Any ideas? I know there's a lot of snakes that are out there. But basically I want something that'll eat my jumbos but won't need anything bigger either ;)
Disclaimer: I will feed appropriately, not just when I have a retired rat to get rid of.

So I just saw a post about a "quarter dwarf" retic. Doing research now on their mad size and to find out what the dwarf retics are all about. Perfect solution so long as they don't get huge like regular retics :-)

Don't be fooled by the 'dwarf' name!! My Jampea, which is about 25% dwarf, will likely get to be over 14ft. maybe closer to 17. Super Dwarfs only get 6-8ft, but be prepared to shell out a pretty penny...and make sure it's from a proper breeder. Lots of people claim dwarf blood...when there isn't...;P

If you like boas, but like you said want something not as common. There are plenty of cool boa morphs these days.

Dang. Dwarf is not the right word for those snakes lol. Bloods are beautiful. I'll be exploring the internet tonight and comparing different options. Let ya know what I come up with!

Yeah, Dwarf just refers to the locale of the retic =] VERY misleading...I wish they'd not use that term, but meh.

Come on now Amanda, don't be so angered by this terminology . . . You know VERY well that dwarf blood keeps em small, just need a lot more than 25% ;-)

I had a 25% Kalatoa (Super Dwarf) 12.5% Jampea (Dwarf) mix female, and she was 12' after 2 years, and still not done growing as of yet.

Then again, I have 50% SD stuff that stays around 7.5' but this is F2 . . .
I have an F1 male 50% SD Tiger who is just over 10' . . . and its a male . . .

I just sold my platinum who was 50% SD female, she's 2 and a half years old, and she was 11'! It's extremely variable. BUT There are options like pures that will get you in a manageable size range. Pure Jampea males should not exceed 8' (unless you push them in food!). Pure Super Dwarf Males don't exceed 6', but they also wont eat too big of meals.

I'll throw a hat out there for Woma Pythons. They are fun and mine ate jumbo rats without hesitation (adult female). Boas are nice because they metabolize food quite slowly, so you have time in between feedings. But if you want something different . . . Scrub pythons can be fun ;-) but also quite large. . .
