Honey Bee X Pastel ???

Ok I have been trying to do my research and figure out this whole het/het hypo/het percentages and on and on and on thing, however I am far from a biology major and it tends to just make my head spin! LOL However (by popular consensus) I have decided to breed my Honey Bee male to my Pastel female this next season. My Honey Bee is a visual Hypo. The Pastel (as far as I know) is your standard Pastel. I got her from a petshop at an estimated age of 3 yrs old. My question is .... what are the possiblities I can expect from that clutch and what will that make the hatchlings as far as Het. goes? Thank you in advance for any insight and info!

Possibilities of:

25% 1/4 Het. Ghost
25% 1/4 Pastel Het. Ghost
25% 1/4 Spider Het. Ghost
25% 1/4 Bumble Bee Het. Ghost

Visual hypo parent = all babies 100% hypo

Ahhh ... More confusion .. I LOVE IT! LOL ... How does ghost come into play with this breeding mix? And are you saying that every single hatchling will be a hypo or did you mean carry the het for hypo?

Hypo and Ghost are used interchangeably, and all babies would be 100% het (my apologizes, I forgot to add the "het" in my last post). You would not get visuals because hypo/ghost is recessive and only one parent is carrying the gene (the visual hypo spider) while your pastel is not. Now if your pastel was 100% hypo then you COULD land visuals.

I assumed that's what you meant LOL .... So basically hypo and ghost mean the same thing? Ghost is just a cool unscientific name for hypo?

Ghost is what the original founder of the morph called it, however quite a few other species of snake were farther along and already had hypomelanistic morphs and just called them hypo. When you have a combination of hypo and axanthic or hypo and anerythristic they already called them ghost. This has constantly caused confusion when people try to cross into other species as what is what and then making ball python have the ridiculous name of "true ghost" for their hypo x axanthic combo. Calling them hypo now is the attempt to hopefully correct the confusion one day, but imo it is far too late, I think we will always have to refer to the hypo x axanthic combo as true ghost and now we are left with the confusion of hypo and ghost being called two different names for the same thing lol.

How useful is the calculator on world of ball pythons really ??..... I used it before I posted on here , yes it said 1/4 normal 1/4 honey 1/4 pastel 1/4 honey pastel <(whatever that is) .... But what it didn't tell me was that because I have a visual hypo/ghost the clutch will be het hypo , it didn't tell me that Hypo and ghost mean the same thing and it didn't tell me that in order to throw a visual hypo that both the parents need to be visual hypo or 100% het ...... These are all things that I learned by asking on this site .... I'm just getting started and have a lot to learn yet so a "simulated calculator" simply won't do what I need at this point .... It's not laziness ... It's striving to know more ..... Thanks for your two cents tho

You don't have a "honey"........... you have a honey bee (ghost/hypo X spider)

To do multi gene snakes you have to "control" more that one gene. In your case you would highlight the Ghost and then scroll down to spider (Hold your control button and click the Spider). Now both genes should be highlighted on the male side. Then click your Pastel on the female side and then calculate.

Exactly what I'm talking about lol ... As a begginer in the whole ball python world and genetics field I wouldn't know that ... I just learned something else new, how to use the wizard properly ... That's why I love this site so much a realm of information from experienced ppl in the area I'm trying to learn in and mostly everyone is very friendly and helpful ... The whole "laziness" comment just kinda erk'd my tater even tho it wasn't directed solely towards me ...
