New here!

Hello everyone- I'm new at this . This is my first ball python, she is about 8 months old and pretty active, curious, and a great eater. I currently have her in a 40 gal breeder (temp) until I have one built. I'm having slight trouble with the temp/heat situation. What's the best way to monitor heat off of UTH? (Without the bulb p/lighting interfering with reading) Cold side is at 76 and hot side is at 84 on top of 1/2 in of substrate and 92/93 on a thermometer that's sitting on the actual glass. Any advice?.

Get a thermostat! Set it slightly higher then desired hot spot, 1-2 degrees, and Profit you now have a happy snake.

i personally bought a digital thermometer with a probe (two sides one flat one round) then placed the flat side to the side of the uth where the snake lye's

And what will that do to regulate the UTH other then tell you it's too hot

Well you can do as ^ he says or buy a proper thermostat! There are many ways, but i prefer the peace of mind from a thermostat, Then a dimmer which has no fail safe.

Just search belly burn, and even think of 1 trip to the vet would cost more then the most expensive thermostats! There are many "cheap" ones out there such as hydrofarm, and there are even cheap good ones such as herpstat 1 (110$) which is amazing unit!!!!
