Threw together a FB10 rack, cant decide on belly heat or back heat
Made this just really quickly to house some of my hatchlings that I intend on holding back, but can't decide which type of heat to go with? It holds (10) fb10 tubs. Opinions needed please. :-) Thanks

I prefer belly heat with flexwatt. I just purchased a vision rack with heat tape but havent had it long enought to review it.

I use THG from reptile basics normally. But yes I will usually go with belly heat but on smaller hatchling racks Ive heard people use back heat so I'm kinda undecided. haha

Do you mind if I ask what wood you used to make this? I have been trying to find good melamine boards large enough to make a rack for my females- the big mamas. None of the stores around me carry a correct size and even worse, if you need anything slightly bigger they charge you 2x as much :l Thanks in advance! Looks great!

The shelves are melamine cut off of a 4'x8' piece. The sides are osb plywood. I use osb on the sides because it is cheaper, lighter, and easier to get. But I always make sure that the shelves that the snakes will be in contact with are melamine. Thanks

Back is easier to wire - Belly is IMO the better option though for the animal

May I ask where you purchased the melamine? We can't get 4x8 anywhere around where I live. Did you order it online from somewhere? Thanks in advance.

Is/will the back of the rack total enclosed? If so what difference does it make? The thermostat should turn the belly heat down when it is warm, so belly and back will basically be the same. If the belly heat stayed at 90 all the time, you need to get rid of the built up heat.
