2 Males...?

I have spoken with a couple breeders and they suggested having 2 males, to combat and prevoke breeding. Is this really nessesary? Will you have a better breeding responce if they combat? I only have one male, will he be sufficient?

i have no clue but when i bred fish i put a few extra males in there to put more pressure on the other males, but i have no clue about snakes, im sure somebody will answer soon.

Very helpful, but not necessary. One trick you can use is to keep an old shed of your male's and put it in with him in breeding season.

Sounds like a much safer alternative than keeping two males together, in my opinion. As long as you are sure that there won't be any cross contamination of parasites ( mites, etc ... ), this sounds like something worth trying.

According to the Ball Python Manual, the combats are pretty harmless as they only wrestle each other and the winner usually the ones that managed to get the opponent's head lower or touching the surface. Biting and injuries are rare but you must observe these combats as these creatures are still unpredictable.

The combats are quite (and perhaps only) usefull for those inactive (lazy) males that are reluctant to breed. The combat seems to stimulate their breeding instinct.
