New to BP.net and Have a Mold Problem

So My Girlfriend and I just adopted a Ball Python. He was starting to shed the first day we got him. He went to a hide and Has Stayed there since. I increased the fogger I had to 70% Humidity. The Problem I Just Discovered is mold started growing on The underside of his Wood Hide(I caught very Quickly). I took It out and replaced it. I am Worried That the Mold would grow on his skin? It wasn't Much under the hide. Just Dark Blue Specs. Has anyone had trouble with Mold? What is the best way to Keep Humidity high during a shed but safe?

On a good note, He ate Two Fuzzies Today while in a shed so I assume he is a good eater? I can tell he is close to losing his skin and eyes are clearing up. Any advice would be appreciated as I am A total Newb at this point.

wood hides are bad for this reason. I would look into getting him a PVC or ceramic rock hide, mold can grow on them but only if your mold issue is severe and he's sitting in mold for long periods of time.

Get some plastic hides from reptile basics.

You can replace the wood hides with coconut hides. I love using the coconut hides because they won't mold at all and you can wet them and use them as a humid hide :) but you can use all sorts of different kinds or even make your own.

I'm going to replace with PVC. He Finished shedding, He ate twice while in shed. Does that mean he is a good eater? They were small meals and Frozen/thawed. I have added new pics on my profile. I think he has gorgeous skin. I adopted him. What do you think about these questions?

I've got wood in all my planted enclosures and even some in my racks. I have some species that require high humidity.

I've never had mold.

Foggers, spritzers, etc. do not make long lasting changes to ambient humidity. They make the enclosure damp.

When you think of humidity, think of Louisiana on a hot summer day - warm humid water saturated air. Does anyone think that you can replicate that with a fogger or a hand held mister?

There are ways to amp up humidity that do not invite mold, mildew or result in fluctuations. However, it is much easier to create a humid hide.
