Fancy Bearded Dragon?
I recently bought a "Fancy" bearded dragon from my local pet shop for my daughter. She is about 8-9 inches long but has a very pretty almost gold and orange coloring. I was wondering what a "fancy" bearded dragon is? I googled it and just had more questions then answers. She seems to have a smoother type of head and not so spikey but has spikes along her back. I was just wondering if anyone could take a guess at her genetics with the traits I've listed. I do not know how to upload photos or I would have 5 to take a look at.

"Fancy" is just a term that pet stores use to describe beardies with more color, and they charge more for them. There really aren't a lot of "morphs" with beardies, but the most common are leatherback and silkback, hypomelanistic (or hypo), and translucent (or trans), and more rare ones are Dunner and Witblits. You may find a leatherback or hypo at a pet store, but your baby is probably just a pretty normal. Feel free to post pictures of her, though! I upload the pictures to photobucket, and then you have to copy the IMG link and paste it into your post (I hope that makes sense!).

In my experience pet stores throw the "fancy" tag on an animal for one of two reason:

1)They don't know the bloodlines, morph, etc and it's used as a blanket term.
2)They just want to be able to raise the price on the animal.

Thank you that did help. I figured as much they just used a blanket term and charged more. Luckily I still got her on the cheap side my wifes' friend works their and gave us her discount. Anyways here are some pictures.

She's very cute! It's hard to tell from those pictures, but it looks like she may be a leatherback - her back looks pretty smooth. Either way, congrats!

Thank you. That's what I was thinking a leatherback maybe even a tiger leatherback. She has a lot of details that the pictuers do no do justice.. The photos were taken from my phone which isn't the best but as she grows I'll hopefully have a new camera for better pictures.
