    Fast finally over!
So as tempted as I was to write a post asking what to do about my captive hatched 2 year old ball python who hasn't eaten since September 2013, I figured I would grit my teeth and deal with it. Why? Because I'm obsessive about things about which I am passionate (reptile keeping is an example).

I did my own research. Read all the posts that had already been written on the subject, tried everything. Still no eating. I knew it wasn't an temperature or humidity issue as all my bp's are in a rack system, heated by flexwatt, and controlled by a herpstat. I have an infrared temp gun to measure temps and often check to make sure I have a 90-93 degree hot spot, and an 80 degree cool spot.

He wasn't loosing any noticeable amount of weight. (50 grams in 9 months staying above the 1000 gram range).

So I waited... and waited.... and waited... offering food every 10 days.

Until tonight. He finally ate! Fast over. Bp's are weird, weird snakes.

Just wanted to write a post since I'm so psyched that he finally ate. And boy, did he hit that rat with a vengeance.

Anyways, hopefully all you people who have a bp that doesn't eat read this. Know that sometimes... they just aren't hungry.... for 9 months. And that's "normal".

Wow, that is a very long fast! One of my males about the same age just broke his fast today also, but he "only" started his last January.

Seriously weird snakes lol. To be honest though he pooped 3 months into his fast. after which I weighed him. So really all I know is 50 grams in 6 months.

so glad for you. ball python behavior quirks are part of the things that make this hobby so much fun.
